This service covers remote programming of used transmissions that have an immobilizer/anti‑theft system implemented, commonly referred to as EWS or transmissions carrying an ISN. It enables a technician to replace a transmission with a suitable unit without needing to transfer the mechatronics — which may have been the original fault — or taking the risk of attempting to reuse a non‑responsive original transmission module. This process also does not affect future manufacturer servicing, such as acquiring replacement keys.
For this service the technician will need a Windows PC running Windows 10 or 11 and an OBD ENET cable or an iCOM. For E‑series 8HP units a K+DCAN cable with upgraded firmware is required (we sell compatible options, and alternatives like BoostMonkey or BimmerGeeks cables are known to work). Generic cables will NOT work and can brick the transmission due to signature errors. iCOM is also compatible with E‑series in many cases.
We also support ISN resets for 8HP swaps into E9x vehicles using an X1 or E70 8HP transmission. Installing an F‑series 8HP into an E‑series car requires an external transmission controller such as CANTCU or TurboLamik and cannot run natively because of differing communication protocols.
Note: E‑series diesel transmissions (ZF6HP26/28) cannot be reset remotely; these require sending in the DDE, CAS, key, and the EGS (mechatronics control unit/TMC) for processing.
G‑series 8HP (EGS7) can be programmed remotely if the shop has access to bench tools; otherwise the EGS will need to be sent in, or we can perform the service in person — we are willing to travel up to 100 miles from our location to complete this service on site. We are hoping to offer this service remotely in the near future!
